Roman Abramovich makes verbal proposal to Antonio Conte: Chelsea owner is not happy

Reports in Italy this week suggested the Chelsea gaffer is homesick and has agreed a deal to take charge of Inter Milan next season.

Conte shot down the speculation and revealed he is planning a long stay at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian is less than a season into his three-year contract but has already made a huge impact, guiding Chelsea to the top of the Premier League table.

According to CalcioMercato, Abramovich has made a verbal proposal to Conte about an extension until 2020 or 2021 and is planning to formalise the offer soon.

It’s claimed the Chelsea owner is not happy with the speculation, prompting him to dish out the new deal.

Conte has been without his family in London – they have remained in Italy – but he insists he is enjoying his time at Chelsea.

Antonio Conte has been linked with a return to Italy:

“I am very happy for this experience because for me and my family it is incredible,” he said.

“For sure, in this season my wife and my daughter stayed in Italy but I hope they come and stay here also because I need them.

Antonio Conte has publicly insisted he is happy at Chelsea:

“Yes, I hope [I can manage here for years]. Usually, when you start a project with a new team you want to stay many years and to build something important with the club.

“For sure, to build you must work many years to have the opportunity to grow with your players and to try to win also because when you are the manager in a great club, the imperative is to try to win but also to play great football.”
