Important update – The FA Cup rule changes Chelsea fans need to know before Man United game

The FA are implementing new rules in to this season’s FA Cup from the quarter final onwards – meaning Chelsea fans need to know them now if they don’t already.

Antonio Conte’s side face up against Manchester United on Monday night, with a win granting either side a semi-final spot at Wembley in the coming weeks.

However, this quarter final tie is going to be different than anything we’ve seen before in the FA Cup.

From this point on, the tournament will now be a straight knockout competition – there will NOT be any replays for the quarter finals this season.

That means, if the scores are level at 90 minutes on Monday, extra time and penalties will decide whether Chelsea will reach the next round.

The other new rule concerns substitutions – if a match does go to extra time, then managers are going to be allowed to make a fourth change during a match.

That could be massive in terms of player fatigue…

Of course, if Chelsea (hopefull) win inside 90 minutes, then we won’t see the effects of these new rule changes – but they are still very interesting.
