Frank Lampard believes Antonio Conte’s passion on the touchline has helped the Chelsea manager to win over the club’s supporters in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea boss masterminded a 2-1 win against derby rivals West Ham United at the London Stadium on Monday night courtesy of goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa.
Indeed, Hazard scored a superb counter-attacking goal to break the deadlock in the first half after the Belgian forward combined with Pedro Rodriguez to unlock the West Ham defence.
Costa doubled the visitors’ lead with his 17th goal in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign before West Ham managed to net a consolation goal deep into injury time at the London Stadium.
Conte struck an agitated figure on the touchline throughout the Premier League clash despite Chelsea comfortably leading 2-0 for most of the second half.
Ex-Chelsea midfielder Lampard believes Conte’s enthusiasm and passion for the west London club is encouraging for the club’s supporters to see.
“Every game he is like that. He gives everything. It is great for the players and the fans. If you’re at home watching Conte, you can see how into it he is,” Lampard said.
Chelsea are sitting 10 points clear at the top of the table.
