There has been a lot of talk surrounding the future of Spanish International Diego Costa and the last few days have seen these rumours amped up, with various news outlets reporting that the Chelsea Striker is still very much considering his future.
I have seen various reports, including one involving Costa demanding the same amount of wages from Chelsea as he is being offered to go and play in China. But for me, realistically I can only see him re-joining his former Club Atletico Madrid this summer.
The signs are all there, Costa for me has not been right since almost leaving Chelsea in the January transfer window, the way he is carrying himself seems to indicate that his head and his heart are elsewhere.
If the money is right, which it will be as Atletico will surely raise funds from not being able to keep hold of Antoine Griezmann, then Costa will join the La Liga side this summer, which will, of course, leave a massive hole in the attack at Chelsea.
Step forward another Spaniard in the shape of Alvaro Morata. The Spain International is being as much speculated about as Costa and the most recent rumours suggest that an initial offer of £34 million has already been placed from Chelsea in an attempt to increase their firepower up top and get the ball moving on this deal.
Morata has been a prolific goal scorer since returning to Real Madrid and has the best goals per minutes ratio at the Club. But when you have the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo playing ahead of you, his chances have been few and far between, hence his desire to leave. A chance of becoming the main man at Chelsea will certainly tempt him.
The 24-year old has scored 8 goals in 18 appearances for Spain and is the type of striker that Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte admires. There has been no disguise in his Clubs desire to bring in the Spanish hitman and there is a real chance that it could happen this summer.
With Michy Batshuayi failing to cement down a place due to not impressing the Manager, The Blues have a real need to bring in one or two extra forwards this summer, especially if the likely happens and Costa does leave. Batshuayi is highly likely to leave this summer in search of regular football, fully understandably.
Finally, there has also been rumours linking Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to a move across London. Reportedly growing frustrated with life at Arsenal, he is weighing up his options in his next career move as he searches for silverware and success. With Arsene Wenger’s future in doubt, it certainly does suggest worrying times at The Emirates right now.
But for me, this will be a near impossible coup for Chelsea, I can’t see this one happening. But of course, anything can happen in football and should Chelsea lose Costa, they will certainly have the money and the need to bring in a big named forward or two in order to compete in the Champions League next season and if things go their way, defend their Premier League Title that they are very much on course the win right now.
