With the events in London dominating yesterday afternoon, we got put on the back-burner somewhat.
One story that we planned to cover yesterday but because of the above terrorist incident, didn`t get around to doing so, related to Marcos Alonso.
Alonso, brought to Chelsea Football Club as the summer transfer window began to swing shut, has been a revelation this season.
When the club decided to splash the cash on the 26-year-old, a considerable amount may I add, eye-brows amongst the Chelsea support rose.
After all, in two previous spells in England, with Bolton and Sunderland, Alonso hadn`t created any positive waves.
But clearly, when it came to signing Alonso, the horses-for-course philosophy was adopted.
Alonso`s role down the left flank has been crucial in Chelsea`s success story this season and, as you`d expect, has not gone unnoticed by other clubs on the continent.
Yesterday the Spanish media vehicle, Marca, was reporting that Real Madrid were keen to sign the player.
However, our referenced source has been quick to also point out that Chelsea have hoisted the ‘Not-for-Sale` flag.
Let`s hope that`s the end of such speculation relating to the player.
