Fiorentina will fight all the way to keep hold of Chelsea-target Federico Bernardeschi by slapping a £63m price tag on his head.
The Italians are desperate to get their talented winger to sign a contract extension to the current deal which runs out in 2019.
And with it comes a £63 million release clause for Bernardeschi, 22, who is regarded as one of Italy’s most exciting young talents.
Chelsea scouts saw him in action last week in Fiorentina’s clash with Napoli when Bernardeschi scored twice and won the man of the match plaudits.
Boss Antonio Conte knows him inside out after promoting Bernardeschi to Italy’s full squad in March where he has now won seven caps.
Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus are also interested but Chelsea are favourites to land him – if Fiorentina fail to get Bernardeschi to commit his future to the club.
Diego Costa: This is what I really think of my Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard
Diego Costa has heaped praise on his Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard.
Eden Hazard has rediscovered his best for this season, and already has nine goals in 17 Premier League games for Chelsea.
The Belgium international’s form has helped the Blues win their last 12 league matches to move six points clear at the top of the table.
And Costa, who has 14 league goals this term, has now heaped praise on his Blues team-mate.
“Eden is just incredible,” he told Chelsea’s official website.
“He is the sort of player who is able to win a match by himself. He is extraordinary.
“There are very few people like him.
“He is very confident in what he does and he is transmitting that confidence to us.”
Ray Parlour: This Cheslea defender has surprised me, he’s really energetic
Ray Parlour has revealed that he has been surprised by Cesar Azpilicueta’s impressive performances for Chelsea this season.
The Blues have been in superb form under Antonio Conte in the 2016-17 season and the west London side recorded their 12th successive Premier League win on Boxing Day thanks to a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.
Azpilicueta has played a key role in Chelsea’s winning run after the Chelsea manager opted to play the Spanish defender in a back three containing David Luiz and Gary Cahill.
Chelsea have managed to keep nine clean sheets in their last 12 games, while Azpilicueta even provided the assist for Diego Costa’s winner in a 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace before Christmas.
Speaking on The Sun Goals podcast, former Arsenal striker Wright heaped praise on Spain international Azpilicueta for his performances in the Chelsea back four.
“I’ve been really surprised by how good Azpilicueta has been,” Wright said.
“He’s a right-back playing on the right-hand side of the three centre-halves but he is breaking into midfield at times. He has done a great job. He is very energetic.”
Chelsea finished in tenth place in the Premier League table last season.
The Blues signed five players in the summer transfer window.
