THIBAUT COURTOIS has hailed Chelsea’s ability to win without their superstar Eden Hazard.
Antonio Conte’s men beat the Black Cats with another 1-0 victory and Courtois was happy they showed they can get the job even without a player of Hazard’s quality.
He told the London Evening Standard: “Eden is one of the best in the world.
“When he’s not there, you’re going to miss him, but we showed we can be good without him.”
Prior to last night’s victory at the Stadium of Light, Conte confirmed Hazard’s injury was not major.
And the 25-year-old should be back for Chelsea’s trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday lunchtime.
Conte said: “Eden has a knock in his knee and now he’s injured. I don’t think [it is serious] but for this game, he couldn’t play.”
Chelsea will be looking for their eleventh win in a row at Selhurst Park and extend their lead at the top.
Conte’s side are guaranteed to be league leaders on Christmas Day and that historically means they will claim title glory this term.
Chelsea have been top at Christmas on four occasions in the past and gone on to lift the Premier League trophy each time.
