Chelsea have reportedly made a £42m offer for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal to land the Chilean star at the end of the season, Don Balon claims.
Vidal was a key player under Antonio Conte during their three years’ time at Juventus, and the Italian is keen to reunite with the 29-year-old, who is currently on his second season at Bundesliga after joining the German giants in the summer of 2015.
It is reported that the big-money offer is already on the table, and that a chance for Vidal to return to Conte’s management could be a challenge too tempting to turn down.
It’s believed that the club won’t be standing in his way should Vidal hope to make the move, as youngster Joshua Kimmich and Renato Sanchez are developing with a good pace and could soon be replacing the ex-Juve man in the Bayern starting line-up.
However, Chelsea will have to ensure that they’ll be qualifying for the Champions League next season, as it’s obvious that not many world-class players are keen to make a switch to a club with no European football during the middle of the gameweek.
Arturo Vidal would be a perfect suit for Conte’s two-man midfield, as he owns an ability to change the game in a heartbeat for his team in either defence or offense.
Chelsea have also targeted big-money moves for PSG midfielder Marco Verratti and Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez, as Antonio Conte looks to invest the £60m transfer fee from selling Oscar to a good purpose.
