John Obi Mikel: ‘Why Conte is angry at me’

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel is being linked with a move out of Chelsea in the coming summer transfer window. The Nigerian international has being struggling to get playing minutes under Antonio Conte and the experienced midfielder has told the Sun why he’s not on good terms with the Italian tactician.

“I’m not that kind of person who wants to find excuses, nor I’m trying to escape my responsibilities.”

“People may think that Conte is angry at me because I did not take part in Chelsea’s pre-season training camp, but I wouldn’t swap my bronze Olympic medal with a starting spot in Chelsea’s XI. I do not regret to have played in the Olympic games with my national team, it was a great honor for me.”

“ I still want to try and train hard in an attempt to convince Conte to change his mind, if that is not the case, then let’s see what is going to happen in January.”
