Graeme Souness says he would not be surprised to see Chelsea claim victory at Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.
The Blues have earned plenty of praise for their performances in recent weeks following Antonio Conte’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in the summer.
The west London side have been in fine form, with Chelsea having recorded their seventh straight Premier League win when they came from a goal down to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.
That victory lifted Chelsea back to the top of the table and left them one point clear of Liverpool after 13 games of the new campaign.
Conte’s side, however, are in for a stern test of their title credentials when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City on Saturday lunchtime.
And although Souness is expecting a close affair, he would not be surprised to see Chelsea take all three points.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning, Souness said: “I’m going to state the obvious and say it will be very tight.
“It’s a really hard one to call. This Chelsea team are hard to break down, they’re hard to play against.
“The first thought in their head is not to give anything away.
“I think it will be a very close affair – but it would not be impossible for Chelsea to go there and do a number on them.”
