Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a £75million move to seal the transfer of Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez to replace the departing Oscar.
The Blues look set to lose their Brazilian playmaker to Shanghai Shenhua this January, with the Chinese Super League club making a huge bid in the region of £52-60million.
That kind of money is too good for Chelsea to turn down for a player who hasn’t featured regularly in Antonio Conte’s side this season, but the Italian is keen to bolster his options in that position.
According to the Daily Mirror, Rodriguez could be the man brought in to Stamford Bridge this winter, as the Colombian remains a peripheral figure at Real Madrid this season.
Rodriguez has struggled to win over manager Zinedine Zidane, but remains a highly-rated talent after the tremendous form he showed in his early Real career.
The 25-year-old would likely cost as much as £75m as Real hope to recoup the amount they paid Monaco for him back in 2014.
If Rodriguez does end up moving to Chelsea for that kind of money, he would be the west Londoners’ all-time record purchase.
