ANTONIO CONTE has reiterated that Chelsea do not want to sell Cesc Fabregas and hinted the club won’t be renewing Mikel John Obi’s contract.
Fabregas has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea, sparking rumours that the London club are likely to offload him in the January transfer window.
But Antonio Conte has insisted that the Spain international is very much part of his plans at Stamford Bridge.
“As I have said in a previous press conference, Cesc is a good player and is part of my squad,” said Conte.
The Chelsea manager was less committed to whether he wanted to keep Mikel John Obi.
The Nigeria international’s contract runs out at the end of the season and Chelsea are unlikely to extend the midfielder’s stay at Stamford Bridge.
“The situation is simple; he’s in the squad and is staying with us and we know that at the end of the season probably his contract is going to expire,” Conte continued.
“I don’t know what will happen. Now he’s part of this squad. If I have to talk about a contract for players I prefer to talk with my club.”
Mikel has been at Chelsea for 10 years now and has won every trophy during his time with the club including the Champions League in 2012.
