Jamie Redknapp has praised N’Golo Kante for the impact the midfielder has had since joining Chelsea in the summer.
The midfielder became one of the Blues’ first signings under new manager Antonio Conte and has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea team so far this season.
Kante helped Chelsea secure the three points against Middlesbrough on Sunday afternoon as Diego Costa scored the only goal of the game in the first half at the Riverside Stadium.
The midfielder earned plenty of praise for his performances for Leicester City last season as he helped them win the Premier League title.
And former Liverpool star Redknapp has been thoroughly impressed by Kante’s start to life at Chelsea since his summer move.
Writing in his column for The Daily Mail, Redknapp said: “I remember standing with Leicester’s coaches on the final day of last season and asking about how important N’Golo Kante was to their midfield.
“They told me: ‘We play with Kante on the left, Danny Drinkwater in the middle and Kante on the right!’ Kante is like a mole — he pops up all over the pitch!’
“He is a nightmare to play against because he covers so much ground, puts you under pressure and never wastes the ball.
“He was superb against Middlesbrough on Sunday and you only have to look at how much Leicester have struggled without him to see the impact he makes.”
Chelsea are currently one point clear at the top of the Premier League table after their win over Middlesbrough.
