CHELSEA are close to agreeing a move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, according to reports in Turkey.
The Turkish international is believed to be valued at around £17million by the Bundesliga outfit.
Calhanoglu, 22, has already racked up almost 200 first-team games as well as 27 caps for his country.
He is keen to play in the Premier League and has apparently informed Leverkusen he wants to be allowed to leave.
Calhanoglu operates in a similar role to Oscar – who has been benched under new Blues boss Antonio Conte – leading to claims the Brazilian will be shipped out.
Former Hamburg star Calhanoglu is a free-kick specialist known for scoring spectacular long-range strikes from set-pieces and open play.
He is one of Europe’s best young talents and many top sides have been keeping tabs on him for several years, meaning Chelsea may face competition for his signature.
