Diego Costa has given Chelsea a major fitness boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Middlesbrough, according to reports.
The Sun claim the Premier League’s top scorer has recovered from the groin injury which forced him to withdraw from Spain’s national squad last week.
Costa, 28, pulled up lame while training with the Spanish side and missed Tuesday’s friendly with England, after flying back to west London to undergo treatment.
But it is claimed that the forward has done enough to prove his fitness to manager Antonio Conte ahead of the side’s trip to Teesside this weekend.
The second-placed Blues could go top of the Premier League table with a victory in the North-east and if Liverpool lose at Southampton on Saturday.
Meanwhile Chelsea are continuing to assess talisman Eden Hazard , who received “a knock to his calf” while on international duty with Belgium this week.
The injury forced him off during the second half of Sunday’s 8-1 demolition of Estonia, and despite Belgium manager Roberto Martinez describing the decision to withdraw him as ‘precautionary’, Chelsea are taking no chances with the 25-year-old’s player’s fitness.
