Ever since Chelsea switched to the 3-4-3 system, they have been excellent. There’s no two ways about it. But we all know Antonio Conte is not exactly a 3-4-3 manager. He has built his reputation on a 3-5-2 formation, both in Juventus and in the Italian national team.
That is why the Italian manager was so adamant about getting another great striker to play up front alongside Spain international Diego Costa. Chelsea did try to buy a striker in the summer, but could not despite trying a lot. Alvaro Morata was chased, but Real Madrid refused to sell the 24 year old.
