It was a long awaited return by John Terry, who had been out for almost two months with an ankle injury. But this was not the best of comebacks, a 2-1 loss against London rivals West Ham United, which ended Chelsea’s journey in the EFL Cup.
John Terry had been fit for two weeks prior to last night’s match. He had been training with the first team, but manager Antonio Conte preferred to leave him on the bench for the matches against Leicester City, and on Sunday against Manchester United.
Clearly Conte had thought those two matches would be too overwhelming to make a comeback from an ankle injury.
