Gary Cahill has come under fire from both fans and pundits alike, for his recent mistakes on the pitch, which has cost Chelsea a lot of points this season. So much so, that the fans on social media ridiculed Antonio Conte’s decision to hand him the captain’s armband with Terry out and Ivanovic dropped against Hull City.
However, both Cahill and Chelsea came out of the match unscathed, making no defensive errors, and collecting maximum points at the KCOM Stadium.
But prior to the clash against Hull, Cahill had made quite a few errors. At the Emirates, he gave the ball away to Alexis Sanchez in the middle of the park, which led to the opening goal.
Before that, he had failed to close down Henderson, as he scored Liverpool’s second goal at Stamford Bridge, while he also gave the ball away to Leroy Fer at the Liberty Stadium for Swansea’s second goal, although that should have been a foul.
