Once you let a talented young player leave, it can cost you a fortune to bring him back. Look at Paul Pogba and Manchester United. The Red Devils let him go for free and then had to buy him for 89 million pounds. Similarly, Chelsea had used Matic as an add-on to buy David Luiz but later had to cough up 21 million pounds to bring him back.
And then there are some players even cash won’t be able to buy back. Think about Romelu Lukaku. Everton wanted a whopping 75 million pounds to sell him, then later even declined to hold talks about him. And imagine if Chelsea wanted to bring back the likes of Kevin De Bruyne!! Absolutely no chance at all!!
So one thing is must when you allow potential stars leave when he can’t get into the team presently. And that is a “buy-back” clause. Chelsea may have learned from their mistakes, and that is why they have inserted a buy-back clause in a player’s sale contract. And that player is superstar Eden Hazard’s brother, Thorgan Hazard.
