After a disastrous 2015-16 campaign, a new era kicked off for Chelsea Football Club under former Italian national team and Juventus coach Antonio Conte in Austria. The first game ended in a 2-0 loss vs Rapid Wien but the Blues bounced back with a 3-0 victory against Wolfsberger AC a few days later.

There have been two new signings for the Blues this season so far, Michy Batshuayi, the Belgian striker from Ligue 1 outfit Marsellie and N’Golo Kante, the French central midfielder from the 2016 Premier League Champions Leicester City. The latter was purchased shortly after the conclusion of the European Championships for a reported price of 32 million pounds.
