For the last few years, owner Roman Abramovich has focused on tapping young talents and sending them on loan spells to other clubs to gain first team experience and turn them into world class players. The best example can be seen in the form of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The Belgian was bought as a 19-year-old prodigy from Genk and was sent to Atletico de Madrid on loan for three years, where he became one of the best goalkeepers in the world and replaced Stamford Bridge legend Petr Cech as the first team goalkeeper upon his introduction to the Chelsea squad.
