Chelsea Hit A Major Transfer Roadblock: Submit £18m Official Bid for Alternative

Chelsea’s chase for a new centre back is not going as smooth as Antonio Conte, and indeed the fans, would have wanted. Although Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent has stated that Koulibaly is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, Napoli are not eager to sell.

Even if Napoli do sell, they are asking for a mammoth 45 million pound fee, which is putting the Chelsea board off. The huge price Napoli have put on the Senegalese defender’s head is forcing Chelsea to look at other options.

For example, Chelsea are looking at Branislav Ivanovic’s fellow Serbian defender, Torino’s Nikola Maksimovic, who is available at just 18 million pounds. Maksimovic is a tall centre back, only 24 years of age, and has been compared to legendary Premier League defender Nemanja Vidic numerous times.

Also, according to the Mirror, Chelsea are interested in another Dutch defender as well.

  1. Does the Chelsea board have brains? I wonder. We have a gem, in the name of Christensen Andreas, in Germany, but noone is giving him any attention. Buying a player when you have someone who can play better than the ones you want to buy isn’t good business! Poor thinking!!!

    • But he is bound to stay another year in Germany due to contractual agreement and with Zouma injured we don’t really have world class CB’s to go into the new season
