It has just been a fortnight since the transfer windows shut down, but that hasn’t stopped the tabloids from linking us to various targets.
Players like John Stones and Paul Pogba have continuously been linked to the Blues, but the reports emerging now suggests that Chelsea are interested in FC Porto’s 18-year-old midfielder, Ruben Neves:
“Chelsea have entered the race in their efforts to sign Barcelona and Real Madrid target Ruben Neves from Porto.
“The 18-year-old has emerged as a possible January target for manager Jose Mourinho who has been struggling to get the best out of his current squad.
“Neves rose through the youth ranks at the Portuguese side and has now earned himself a regular place in the squad for Porto boss Julen Lopetegui, featuring 37 times in all competitions last term.”

Ruben Neves as a possible January target? From what I know, Neves is an extremely talented defensive midfielder who is capable of playing long balls from the deep ala Fabregas. It’s just that, Neves is actually good in his defensive duties, unlike Fabregas!
But, the thing is, we already have Marco Van Ginkel and Mario Pasalic on loan who are more than capable of playing that role. Mario Pasalic, in particular, has been very impressive and having Ruben Neves will definitely mean curtains for those two midfielders. But, then again, having too much talent never hurts, does it?
