Remember Marko Marin? The “German Messi”? The guy who was going to take the European football by storm? The winger who overshadowed Eden Hazard in the preseason of 2012? Sounds about right, eh?

Yes, Marko Marin, the mystery, an enigma on whom a lot of hopes rested, but whose career has been hampered by injury and injury alone. Some even say that his hamstrings are made of glasses, literally! And here, we thought Diego Costa was the one with hamstring issues!

After failing to impress, or rather failing to remain fit at Chelsea during his first season in 2012, the Messi look alike was sent to Spanish side Sevilla in a hope to replace the real Messi with him secretly. The mission failed miserably after the “German Messi” failed to remain fit yet again.

Next up was a loan move to Fiorentina, because, as you know, even a half decent player like Salah can turn himself into a Ronaldo in Serie A whereas, Marko was already a “German Messi” but again, nothing changed as the winger failed to remain fit yet, yet again as he couldn’t even a make an appearance for Fiorentina.

So, one more step down and we turned to the Belgian League for Marko. Sadly, he failed to remain fit yet, yet, yet again and the loan move was inevitably a disaster.

Just when we thought that there won’t be any suitors anymore and we might have to shoot him to the moon, the Turkish side, Trabzonspor came along!

Here’s what the Turkish side’s sporting director Suleyman Hurma had to say on the Marin situation:

“He will arrive in Trabzon on Monday night and undergo a medical on Tuesday before completing his transfer.”

Here’s also a tweet that confirms the deal:

I call this move downright gutsy from Trabzonspor, given Marin’s injury background.

The joining fee is reported to be around 2.5 Million Euros. Hopefully, Marin is able to pass the medical because that’s one thing I am really worried about!

Good Luck Marin. I hope you can resurrect your career and finally be injury free in Turkey.
