Is it Sunday already? Wow, amidst the rumors and controversies surrounding our club, time seems to have flown away rather fast!
Finally, here we are with probably the hardest match of the season. For some fans, less than 3 points won’t do, after that disappointing performance against Swansea. I, for one, would also be content with a draw, as it won’t be the end of the world, given that it’s only the second game week.
From an injury point of view, Oscar, who was in tremendous form last week might, unfortunately, miss the game due to a knock he suffered in training. Other than that, only Thibaut Courtois seems to be the other absentee for the obvious reasons.
With Mourinho probably going the safer route, here’s how we would probably line up against our closest rivals:
GK – ASMIR BEGOVIC
With Thibaut Courtois missing the game with a suspension, Asmir Begovic will start the game in front of the nets. Jamal Blackman will be on the bench as the substitute goalkeeper.
CB – JOHN TERRY AND GARY CAHILL
Gary Cahill did alright against Swansea while John Terry struggled against Gomis and co. But the pair would definitely line up alongside each other once again. This time, though, they will have the likes of Aguero/Bony, Silva and co. to worry about. It ain’t gonna be easy, that’s for sure!
FULLBACKS – CESAR AZPILICUETA AND BRANISLAV IVANOVIC
Both are our only options at the fullback so Cesar starts at Left Back while the Serbian on the right. For Ivanovic, dealing with the pace of Sterling could be vital as it may turn to be the difference between the two sides!
CM – NEMANJA MATIC, CESC FABREAGS AND KURT ZOUMA
I am pretty sure we are gonna line up in a 4-3-3 with a packed midfield!
The only question is whether it will be Zouma or Ramires who starts alongside the other two. After watching Zouma’s performance against Fellaini and Christian Eriksen last season, it would most probably be Zouma ahead of Ramires. But then again, you never know with Jose!
WINGERS – EDEN HAZARD AND WILLIAN
Eden Hazard is a sure starter unless Kompany doesn’t poison his food with some kind of Diarrhoea bacteria while, Willian will retain his spot from last weekend. His high press and hustling will surely be needed in the absence of Oscar.
STRIKER – DIEGO COSTA
Unless he doesn’t twitch his hamstrings yet again, there’s no doubt who is gonna start up front for Chelsea. Hopefully, he utilizes Manchester City’s most obvious vulnerability; their defense!
