Chelsea vs. Manchester City – Player Ratings (Argh!!!)
It was just a usual game. City won Chelsea lost. No need to over analyze or over think, right?
I wish it was as simple as that. I wish we had performed better, individually and as a group. I wish our defenders had a better game and not bossed around by Aguero. But those are just wishes. The reality is; we sucked!
Still, let’s get on with the player ratings to see who was the worst among the worst:
ASMIR BEGOVIC – 8
Lose 3-0 and still the Goalkeeper turn out to be the Man Of The Match! If it wasn’t for him, we would be looking at a very embarrassing scoreline. Brilliant game by the Bosnian!
CESAR AZPILICUETA – 6.5
Another player who had a decent game to show for. Navas did get the better of him on a couple of occasions, but overall, the Spaniard did well to cover for Terry and do his job at the Left wing!
JOHN TERRY – 4.5
Was repeatedly owned and bossed around by Sergio Aguero. The Argentinian ran behind him on more than few occasions as the Striker exploited the lack of pace from Terry.
GARY CAHILL – 5.5
Covered for John Terry, covered for Branislav Ivanovic whilst playing as a CB. Was at fault for the Sergio Aguero goal as the Argentinian turned him inside out to score the opener.
BRANISLAV IVANOVIC – 2
Tempted to give him nothing as the Serbian was directly responsible for 2 goals. Speed was never his strength as Sterling and Silva exploited that aspect of his play. Usually provides a good option on the attacking front, but yesterday was dire on the attack! Physicality is usually his strength, but he was bullied by Kompany to score that second goal and end all our hopes for an equalizer. Please. Drop. Him!
CESC FABREAGS – 4
Fabregas could do nothing to help Matic in the midfield as the Spaniard seemed lost for the most part. He did provide a bit of creativity up front, but had a disappointing game overall!
RAMIRES – 4
Did nothing up front. Did nothing at the back. Scored an offside goal lost the ball regularly. But, even then, still starts the big games consistently for some reasons!
NEMANAJA MATIC – 6
Unfair to rate him as he found himself isolated against the likes of Yaya Toure and David Silva with Ramires and Fabregas doing nothing to help him defensively!
WILLIAN – 6.5
Came alive in the second half and he was the only reason I could dream of an equalizer. Had a decent game, pressed relentlessly, hustled around and did the usual Willian stuff, amidst with no help from his teammates.
EDEN HAZARD – 5
The Belgian was isolated for the most part of the game as Fernandinho and Sagna teamed up to stop him in his strides. Still, one of the best players in the world, we do hope for a little bit more from him!
DIEGO COSTA – 5
Again was isolated up front! City managed to dominate most part of the game and there wasn’t any clear-cut chance for Costa to make any difference.
KURT ZOUMA – 6
Was introduced in place of John Terry to counter Aguero’s pace. The Frenchman sticked to his job and did well to contain the striker!
JUAN CUADRADO – 3
SELL. HIM. PLEASE.
RADAMEL FALCAO – N.A.
Came too late and at 3-0 down to make any significant impact.
