Mourinho Happy With Falcao’s Performance – Cuadrado Will Get Better, Insists Falcao

Granted, it’s only a pre-season friendly and not much should be taken away from the performances of the players, but if the game against PSG was anything to go by, Radamel Falcao could well be challenging Costa for the lone striker spot.

Yes, it was just a 20 minutes cameo but the intent, the sharpness, the movement shown by the Colombian reminded me of his Atletico Madrid days when Falcao was the most feared striker on the planet!

So, can Falcao redeem himself with Chelsea this season?

Let’s see what Jose Mourinho thinks of his performance yesterday:

“He isn’t as tired as the others, the others have done 10 days. He’s just done two. He has just arrived, trained two days , so he has the sharpness and no fatigue. It was good for him to come in and score in the shootout.”

Radamel Falcao was our first penalty taker in the shootout as he calmly sent the ball to the right of Sirigu to score his first goal in the Blue shirt. Now, hopefully, he can build on this confidence and give Costa and Remy, a run for their money!

Meanwhile, Falcao also defended his team-mate Juan Cuadrado in an interview insisting that we are yet to see the best of the Colombian in the Blue shirt:

“Juan is a happy person with very good qualities and skills and he only needs time to grow in this club and be important, like he was when playing in Italy.

“He is a fantastic player and everybody supports him because all the players and coaches know about his quality.

“He is so quick over a few metres and I think this season will be a good one for him.”

I hope Falcao is right here! Cuadrado hasn’t done anything worthwhile during his time at the Bridge. The winger also missed a chance to score against PSG from a brilliant pass by Oscar. Cuadrado was also the only one missing a penalty for the Blues and that wouldn’t have helped his confidence at all.

Juan should be set for a start against Barcelona in our next pre-season game and that would be the time for him to seize the opportunity, just like Victor Moses has done so far!
