Manager Drops Hints Over Begovic’s Signing

It’s pretty obvious that we need a backup Goalkeeper after Cech’s departure.

With Marco Van Ginkel heading on loan to Stoke City, it’s probably just a matter of time before we welcome the Bosnian into our squad. If there was still a doubt over his arrival, Stoke’s manager Mark Hughes made sure that wasn’t the case with the following statement:

“I haven’t had an update today, but my understanding is that he’s likely to travel to Chelsea and that will be concluded. I would imagine, having worked with Asmir, that he’ll back his ability and he would think he will challenge and get game time there, or he wouldn’t have gone there. He’s a confident goalkeeper and a very accomplished goalkeeper so he’ll push whoever’s in the number one very, very hard.”

Well, I would imagine that he won’t dethrone Courtois from the top spot but still, having a bit of competition is never bad for a team. Right? Besides, being pushed for the no.1 spot is probably what Courtois need to realize his true potential.

With Steven N’Zonzi leaving a big void at Stoke City, it’s a perfect opportunity for Marco Van Ginkel to establish himself as a regular. While, it just seems a matter of time before Asmir Begovic signs the contract with Chelsea!
