Guess Who Advised Andreas Christensen For The Gladbach Loan?

Quality defenders are extremely hard to find! The other thing is; it’s one position where you need a lot of experience before you become competent enough to start week in week out for a top club. Compare it to the other positions in football and you will realize that the defenders peak later in their career for the same reason.

Right now, we have plenty of young defenders out on loan and among them, Andreas Christensen is one of the most highly rated players for Chelsea. The versatile Danish International even made his international debut last month where he came on as a substitute for his country.

The 19-year-old youngster is primarily a Centre Back who can fill in as a Right Back or Defensive Midfielder if needed. Highly rated by Jose Mourinho, the Danish made a few substitute appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League last season and also started in the cup competitions.

With players like Terry, Cahill and Zouma ahead in the pecking order, there was no way Christensen could force his way into the team just yet, so a loan to Bundesliga seemed a better option for the development of the youngster.

But guess who advised Christensen for a loan move to Borussia Monchengladbach?

“I asked Eden Hazard whether his brother Thorgan is happy at Gladbach. He said yes.

“Under Favre, I should reach the next level. He’s a top coach and was another reason for my transfer.

“And in contrast to the Premier League they also rely on young players here and let them play earlier. I will gain some maturity with Gladbach for Chelsea — that’s the plan.”

Thorgan Hazard had a great time at Gladbach last season where he made a big impact with his impressive play before he was sold to the club with a buy-back option. Andreas Christensen is no doubt a talented lad, but he is still raw. A good loan spell at a competitive Gladbach side is probably what he needs before he is ready to challenge for the first team at the Bridge. We hope that the Danish establishes himself at his loan club because we could probably need his services sooner rather than later!

Have a great time in Germany Andreas!
