With Filipe Luis rejoining Atletico Madrid, Chelsea are in the market for a new backup left back.
The club has reportedly turned their attention towards Brazilian youngster Alex Telles, and if Sky Italia reporter Gianluca Di Marzio is to be believed:
“Chelsea is ready to welcome their next addition. The Blues are on the verge of closing the deal for Alex Telles, the negotiation with Galatasaray for the player born in 1992 is in the final stages- Mourinho’s club appears to have defeated Inter and Juventus in the race for Alex Telles.”
The 22-year-old left back, who currently plays for Turkish giant Galatasaray, has a contract with the club till 2018, but Galatasaray are ready to sell him to Chelsea for a fee of about 10 million pounds.
Jose Mourinho was supposedly interested Ghanaian full back Abdul Baba Rahman, but Augsburg are playing hardball and are holding out for a fee of 15 million pounds. This has prompted Mourinho to look at Telles, who has impressed with his performances with Gala, especially against Chelsea in the Champions League in 2014.
Telles is a fast, aggressive left back, who can operate as a left winger as well, and has been the first choice left back at Galatasaray for the last two seasons. Chelsea are reportedly leading the race for the youngster’s signature, having fended off competition from other European clubs.
Add to that, he is a Brazilian too, so he will fit in right away!
