Fiorentina Threatens To Take Legal Actions Against Chelsea Midfielder
If I had told you beforehand that out of all the big names in the transfer market, Mohamed Salah is going to rule this summer window for us, you would have probably laughed at me. Right?
I know! Even I wouldn’t have believed myself! But as it turns out, the “Egyptian Messi” has been making the rounds in the tabloids since the end of the last season and that too for bad reasons!
The lightning fast winger was inevitably bought by the Blues in 2014 from Basel after he destroyed us to bits in a Champions League game. The 11 Million Pound recruit, however, failed to settle in the most competitive league in the world. Jose Mourinho dropped him to the lowest in the pecking order and eventually the Egyptian opted for a loan spell to resurrect his career.
Not many anticipated this but, Salah took to the Serie A like a Duck to the water and scored 9 goals in his 26 appearances with Fiorentina. The Italian club had an initial agreement with Chelsea to extend the loan for further 12 months and this is where all the hassle started!
Apparently, Salah isn’t interested in returning to Fiorentina for another year, even if it means saying no to insane offer .
The Guardian also reports the following on the situation:
“Fiorentina have threatened to take legal action against Mohamed Salah after the player informed them he did not wish to extend his loan from Chelsea for the forthcoming season, with Internazionale having indicated a desire to bring the Egypt winger to San Siro.”
Reason you ask?
“The Italian club, who had paid an initial loan fee to Chelsea, had an option in writing to extend the agreement for a further season ahead of a potential permanent transfer next summer, and duly exercised that clause by paying a further agreed fee.
However, after weeks of haggling over personal terms, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, informed Fiorentina on Thursday evening that he would not be returning to the club for the campaign ahead.”
Fiorentina are obviously upset with this new development in the situation, more so when they have already paid the initial loan fee to Chelsea for another year. This situation has all the attributes of getting messy and ugly quite soon after reading the following statement on Fiorentina’s club website:
“Through his representative, the player has rejected our improved contract offer and expressed his desire to join another club. He has also informed us that he does not intend to respond to our request for him to report back for pre-season training. As a result of the above, we have placed the matter in the hands of our lawyers so that they may assess all possible courses of action in order to protect the club’s rights.”

Chelsea and Fiorentina were probably hoping for Salah to commit another year with the Italian side before deciding his future. However, if Salah did have a say in choosing his loan destination, this situation becomes really complicated. We just hope that our club steers clear of all this legal talks and the situation resolves soon. Whatever happens, this is going to be interesting and we will keep you informed on any further development on the situation.
