Lot of youngsters at Chelsea desire first team football and regular appearances for the club in elite competitions.
However, considering the current depth in Chelsea’s first team squad and the form players are enjoying, it looks difficult for a majority of our young studs to break into the ruling mob this season.
Andreas Christensen, the 19-year-old Danish defender, is one such player. He is keen to renew his contract at Chelsea, provided he gets regular first team football. Now, that is only possible on loan, as the defender isn’t yet at a level, which one needs to attain to play for the first team at the Bridge.
Jose, too is keen to get the teenager a new contract, with just over a year left on his contract and is considered a good prospect.
Meanwhile, German club Borussia Monchengladbach is interested to hire Christensen on loan for the season. Gladbach are looking to reinforce their squad ahead of the 2015-16 campaign, as they prepare to play in the Champions League for the first time in their history. Max Eberl, Borussia Monchengladbach’s director of sport said that, the 19-year-old center-back Christensen is their prime target.
“We want to loan Christensen from Chelsea,” Eberl told spox.com, ”that would complete our plans for central defense.”
Christensen made his Premier League debut as a substitute in the final game of last season against Sunderland, having earlier made appearances in the Capital One Cup and FA Cup.
