Chelsea vs PSG – Player Ratings

I know it was just a friendly and the pre-season games are only meant to get back to full fitness, but still, let’s take a look at the player ratings anyway!

Pre-season is the time when the younger, unestablished players have the chance to impress the manager and that’s why pre-season is fun to watch. With Chelsea overcoming our nemesis, Paris Saint-Germain, on Penalities, let’s take a look at how everybody panned out:

Asmir Begovic – Definitely redeemed himself after that horror show against New York Red Bulls. Made a couple of brilliant saves in the first half. Denied Augustin a one on one situation!

John Terry and Gary Cahill – The partnership of John Terry and Gary Cahill looked a bit out of depth as both the CB’s were guilty of allowing Moura, Augustin, and Ibrahimovic plenty of spaces in our penalty area.

Cesar Azpilicueta – He might be one of the best fullbacks in Europe, but the Spaniard was given a run for his money by Lucas Moura. He will be fine, though!

Branislav Ivanovic – The Serbian still need to get back to his full fitness.

Nemanja Matic – Matic looked the shadow of his usual self. His pressing was off which probably had to do with his match fitness. Hopefully, he will be fine before the Community Shield game against Arsenal.

John Obi Mikel – Had a bad game! He was caught out of position which led to the Ibrahimovic’s goal.

Cesc Fabregas – Just when it looked like the Spaniard was fading off, he provided a sublime assist for Moses. Hopefully, we will see a few of that again this season!

Victor Moses – Our Man of The Match for the second straight game, Victor Moses is looking determined to make it at Chelsea. Scored our only goal, as he promised in the last game, with a good run towards the post. Given that, this was just a pre-season game, his tracking back was impressive too!

Eden Hazard – The Belgian definitely hates the pre-season. Had a very quiet game!

Diego Costa – It took Costa just 1 minute to get into an altercation with Aurier. Other than that, the chubby Costa still needs to get back to the match fitness!

Ramires – Came on for Mikel in the second half and looked pretty good in the role of a holding midfielder after Matic was off.

Kurt Zouma – We looked better at the back after the arrival of Zouma. Says a lot about the Frenchman!

Oscar – I always wanted to watch Oscar in a deeper role and my wish was granted by Mourinho. His pass to Cuadrado was a thing of beauty while, his penalty was one of the coolest penalties you will ever see!

Willian – Willian was given an extended week off, but the Brazilian looked pretty good in his short cameo.

Juan Cuadrado – The Colombian had a point to prove and looked like a man on a mission before he missed a chance to score a goal from a sublime pass by Oscar. Oh, and he also missed a penalty!

Loic Remy – Looked impressive in his short cameo.

Radamel Falcao – If last night was any indication, Falcao could give Costa a run for his money!

Thibaut Courtois – Didn’t had much to do in the second half. Saved a couple of penalties and scored one of the best penalties you would ever see!
