Chelsea In Race With Manchester United To Sign £15m-Rated Serbian Striker

After completing Falcao’s move and adding solidarity to the strike force, English Champions are now reportedly deliberating a move for Anderlecht’s Serbian striker. Daily Mail proclaims Aleksandar Mitrovic to be on Chelsea’s radar.

It seems fairly thinkable that Jose Mourinho will be looking to strengthen the attack this summer with Drogba retiring, paving the way for another striker to come into the first team, despite Falcao’s move, Remy looks likely to be moving on this window to new pastures for some regular first team action. As West Ham interested in the French lad, Chelsea is now left short in terms of striking talent with only Diego Costa left with proven credentials. Given Costa’s injury woes, Chelsea need to move quickly in the transfer market for prodigious players on offer before they are snapped up by the rivals.

Patrick Bamford would plausibly be shipped out on loan again this season to a mid-table Premier League side, hence signing a young striker is rather conceivable. Comparatively, Bamford lacks in experience to Mitrovic. Mitrovic also has Champions League know-how and experience, having shone for the Belgium side last season, registering himself on the score sheet in Anderlecht’s freakish 3-3 draw against Arsenal.

Mitrovic desires Champions League football, that he will get in plenty at the home of the Premier League Champions. A deal with a stipend of about 60,000 Pounds a week plus bonuses, makes Chelsea an ideal destination even though, Manchester United and other clubs have been lurking on the Belgian club’s doors for the Serbian. Reportedly, Newcastle and Swansea City have already pushed back in their pursuit of the striker.

If Mitrovic signs, he would be an adequate backup for Falcao and Costa and would be a great addition to the squad’s strike force. Mitrovic has evinced great goal scoring abilities having scored 23 goals last season, and can efficiently serve as the third choice striker provided Loic Remy leaves and Bamford is loaned out.
