Blues’ highly rated youngster Andreas Christensen will be heading out on a season-long loan to the Bundesliga side, Borussia Monchengladbach.
Chelseafc released a statement on their official website today to confirm the news:
“Andreas Christensen will spend the 2015/16 season in the Bundesliga having today finalised a loan to Borussia Monchengladbach.”
The news doesn’t come as a surprise as it was pretty clear that the Danish would be heading out on loan after signing a five-year contract with the Blues this summer. A versatile defender whose primary position is at the Centre-Back, the Danish can also fill in at the Right-Back as well as the Defensive Midfield.
The 19-year-old also made a couple of senior appearances for his national side last month and also played at the European Under-21 Championship. Christensen is pretty highly rated among the Chelsea scouts and has been compared to the likes of Carvalho. This loan spell at Bundesliga could do Christensen a world of good if he can break into Borussia’s starting eleven. Let’s hope he comes back as a vastly improved player, good enough to challenge for the starting spot. Good luck Christensen! Make it count. We will keep an eye on you!
