Analysing John Stones To Chelsea – Should We Go After Him?
Chelsea have been linked with few players this season and one such player who has been attracting interest seems to be Everton defender John Stones.
Stones had an amazing season last time around with the Toffees and formed an excellent partnership at the back with English compatriot Phil Jagielka. The English centre-half has been really clean and tidy at the back and has earned a lot of attention from various top flights of the English football. However, it seems that Mourinho has loved Stones’ progress and wants to add him to the ranks of Chelsea.
Chelsea had made an initial bid of around 20 million pounds for the services of the centre back but the Merseyside club rejected the approach from Chelsea. However, Chelsea are ready to increase the bidding price and add Stones to the squad for the coming season.
I feel that Stones would be a valuable inclusion to the squad as he has shown a mature head on his young shoulders and also he is English so his inclusion would mean the betterment of the homegrown quota. Chelsea are reportedly planning to increase their bid by 10 million pounds and offer Everton a sum of 30 million pounds. John Stones cost Everton a meagre 3 million pounds, two years ago when he joined the Toffees from Barnsley. With Raheem Sterling and Luke Shaw costing Manchester squads crazy amounts, it seems that Chelsea needs to hand Roberto Martinez a big fat cheque for Stones. Also, after Chelsea’s recent 4-2 defeat to New York Red Bulls, Mourinho might be thinking to make a speedy move to acquire the services of the defender.
The Englishman would be a good partner to Kurt Zouma as they are young, dynamic and have shown amazing potential to become world class. Chelsea’s defence line would be in great hands with these two prodigies who can serve for at least a decade at the Stamford Bridge. Also, Chelsea and good English centre-backs have been a great marriage. With John Terry and Gary Cahill proving their might, it is pretty obvious that John Stones would like to emulate their likes and this might just lure him away from Everton to join the Blues.
Mourinho should act quick and get John Stones to the squad as soon as possible. Maybe another season, he might get better and Chelsea would have to make an even bigger deal for the defender. Stones seems to be the ideal backup for Terry and has shown signs that he can emulate what John Terry has been doing for the past seasons at the Stamford Bridge. A captain material and with John Terry in his twilight phase Stones might be the next big thing at the Bridge.
