Jose Mourinho made it clear that he would not make any big changes to the current squad, and only needs players who can be a good replacement to his men in the starting 11.
And would Sami Khedira have been perfect for the role? Well, it doesn’t matter anymore now. In the heat of summer transfer window, rumours linked Real Madrid’s midfielder Khedira with a possible move to Premier League. Chelsea and Arsenal were among the leading contenders to sign the 28-year-old midfielder.
But the German has agreed to a four-year-contract on a free transfer to the Italian double winners and Champions League finalists, Juventus. The Serie A club officially made an announcement on June 9, 2015, stating,
“Juventus Football Club has today completed the signing of Sami Khedira. The 28-year-old, who will officially join from Real Madrid on a free transfer on 1 July 2015, has agreed terms on a four-year contract that expires on 30 June 2019.”
Ever since joining Real Madrid in 2010 from his hometown club Stuttgart, Khedira has won all major silverware in Spain including the League and the Copa del Rey, also becoming the European Champion in 2014 with the Spanish giants.
A part of Germany’s World Cup winning squad, Khedira could however only manage 17 appearances this season following a series of injuries.
So one of our targets has decided to move to another club that has yet another midfielder that we target this summer. Yes, we’re talking about Paul Pogba here. Now whether or not he’s coming to the Bridge, time will tell!
