Newcastle United’s Star Midfielder Itching To Work With Mourinho
For the past few days, Chelsea have been linked to virtually every player who is itching for a move away from his current club! That’s what happens during the silly season when you are as big a club as Chelsea!
Among all the transfer nuisance, the Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid rumor has been the most absurd of all. Okay, I am not going to rant about it because that will most likely stop me from reporting on actual, sensible transfer news. Yes, you heard it right! An actual transfer rumor that does make sense!
Have you heard of Moussa Sissoko? If you follow Premier League closely, you would have surely heard of him as a shining gem in an otherwise less-than-mediocre team. The 25-year-old midfielder has been in a terrific form for Newcastle United this season. The Magpies almost got relegated and had a horrendous campaign in every sense. Nonetheless, Sissoko did well to impress with some brilliant performances, and the Frenchman was one of the major reasons why Newcastle are still in the top flight.
Some might say that he is too good for the Magpies. Maybe that’s why, the versatile Midfielder is itching for a move away from the club. According to reports published in French paper RMC, Moussa Sissoko has been talking to the French media and here’s what he had to say when he was asked by the journalist of Mourinho’s apparent interest in him:
“According to what I am hearing, yes, [Mourinho is following my progress]. He is one of the best managers in the world. He has won so many titles. Any player would love to be coached by this man. For the moment, I am coached by other people (John Carver). If one day I have the chance to work under his guidance, I would be very happy.”
We don’t know how much truth there is in the above quote! For all we know, Sissoko realizes he is too good for a club like Newcastle and it would do him a world of good if a big club (not necessarily Chelsea) listens to his “come and get me” plea and makes a move. Whether that big club would be Chelsea, remains to be seen.
But what if we are indeed interested in the Frenchman? How does he fit in our system? Sissoko has mostly been slotted on the right-hand side of midfield for the major part of the Magpies campaign. A versatile player, Sissoko is capable of playing anywhere in central midfield that makes him comparable to our very own Ramires.
Frankly, Sissoko might well be a better version of Ramires. He is stronger, faster, more physical, has a better technique, can pass the ball around well and has been a very influential player for the major part of the season. Granted, he plays in a team where he is more of a focal point with much less competition, the Frenchman has showed time and time again that he can be a good addition to a top club with his performances against the top sides.
If Jose Mourinho does want to add some quality depth to our side, Sissoko could be a very interesting option. Although, sadly, it might also be the end of the Ramires’ career in Blue.
