Chelsea are having a low profile transfer season, as compared to last season.
As a matter of fact, by this time last season, Chelsea had already acquired the services of talisman Diego Costa and midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas. However, this time around Chelsea are just linked with players who might just play a role of backup rather than challenge the current players for the number one spot.
Just take the case of maybe Falcao, we don’t expect him to replace Costa on a regular basis, or Song to contest for a first team spot with maybe Matic or Fabregas, in that case. Mourinho was spotted opening up about his plans this transfer window.
“We like the players, we are happy with the players,”
“Two or three are always coming to the club, that’s normal. The players I am looking for are my players, the players I want to keep. Last season I had players I wanted to sell.”
“The most important thing in the market is not to lose players. How can I find a better striker than Diego Costa? A better midfielder than Matic? A better right-back than Ivanovic?”
“Our squad this season was very good. We didn’t have many injuries. We had three players play 38 matches of the Premier League. If you come to a champion team you are not a big name. The big names are the champions.”
However, as of now only Nathan Allan and Kenedy have signed for the Blues with Kenedy being the recent addition to the Chelsea squad. It was confirmed just 24-hours ago by the club that Kenedy had left Fluminense to join an unnamed club and Brazilian newspaper Globo Esporte named Chelsea as his buyers.
Kenedy was desired by Manchester United, but it seems that United have again been beaten for the signature of the Brazilian wonder kid by Chelsea. A major hint was dropped by fellow U-20 compatriot and new Chelsea boy Nathan Allan, when he ‘over-excitedly’ tweeted a welcome message for Kenedy. The tweet was however deleted later.
The Brazilian forward has represented Brazil in U-20s seven times. Kenedy was reportedly a target for Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
A projected fee of around 10 Million Euros has been reportedly finalized and as he is a third party owned player, 55% of the fee that is 5.5 Million Euros have been given to Fluminense and rest to BMG bank and manager Evandro Ferreira.
However, according to Wikipedia, the amount is around 6.3 Million Euros and have already named him as a Chelsea player.
According to me, it is just a deal that is pretty much similar to that of Lukaku, as Kenedy seems to be a good player who can thrive well in mediocre European sides and Chelsea are looking to reap the benefits of his sale.
