Costa Back To Madrid: Six Reasons He Isn’t Leaving
Chelsea are willing “to sell” star striker Diego Costa to Real Madrid after signing him from Atletico Madrid only last summer, claims a Spanish journalist.
The report comes from Francois Gallardo, who told El Chringuito about Costa being unable to adjust to life in London. Although a move away from the Blues seems highly unlikely this summer with a great first season at the club and here’s why he is not going anywhere:
1. Mourinho wants Costa to stay
Jose has already said it repeatedly that keeping Costa, Hazard, Matic and Fabregas is the primary target before making any new signings so with jose saying on record that “Costa is not for sale” is an indication that Costa will not be leaving.
2. Costa is a “fan-favorite
If you follow Chelsea avidly you would have noticed a new banner where the Matthew Harding stand meets the East Stand, displaying very clearly “Diego Costa The Guv’Nor”. Fans quickly took to Costa’s all-action and aggressive style and cheered his every touch, and he quickly repaid them with 20 goals in just 26 Premier League appearances.
3. Joining Real Madrid really?
After playing for Atletico Madrid, Real’s sworn rivals, it would be highly unlikely that Costa will move to Atletico’s great rivals with the competition being really intense in the past few seasons, a move to the Bernabeu would be a bit folly to suggest.
4. Chelsea are on the “Cusp of Glory”?
With the Premier League and the League Cup won this season, all-out assault at the Champions League beckons with the Blues failing to get past the round of 16 this season.
A well built squad with the likes of Hazard, magical Fabergas and the defensive unit of terry and co.; Chelsea are a world class team, to leave the Blues for an unstable Real with a new manager is hands-down a crazy move.
5. He ruffles feathers
Just like the strikers back in time of the 70’s and 80’s, who used to terrorize defenses with their warrior like attributes, Diego Costa is no less than that “old-fashioned” striker who’ll run through a brick wall for the team. Whether it’s a duel with a tough center-half or running in behind the defense, Costa ticks all the boxes and possesses all the tricks that a top-class striker should have, to sell such a prized asset whose best years are still to come will be suicidal.
6. Real Madrid is an unstable club
Former Blues manager Carlo Ancelloti being sacked even after winning La Decima and the Copa Del Rey last season speaks alot about the way the club treats its players and staff with the likes of Robben and Sneijder being ill-treated.
Real have developed a reputation of mishandling players so to speak a move to real no matter how big a club they are is not really what Costa needs at this point of time when he’s settled at Chelsea and lives in a great city like London.
Also the journalist who gave fire to this rumour has a reputation of doing this in the past too with “Messi to leave Barca”; keeping his past exploits in mind Chelsea fans can relax and enjoy the summer break and with fresh signings to come, good times lie ahead for the club.
