According to report, Chelsea defender Nathan Ake is set to join Championship side Middlesbrough on loan for next season.
The 20-year-old Dutch International spent most of his time on the bench for Chelsea this season. So the club and player alike, feel that he needs to get regular first team experience. He is a versatile player who can play in the centre of the defence or as a defensive midfielder. He went on loan to Championship side Reading for a month and has indeed improved a lot since the time he joined Chelsea.
Middlesbrough just missed out on promotion via the playoffs this month. Patrick Bamford gained a lot of experience and was a huge success in his tenure at The Riverside.
Ghanaian winger and Chelsea youngster Christian Atsu is already set to join Premier League newcomers Bournemouth on loan next season.
Mourinho has often said that he prefers his squad to be small and compact to get more understanding and stability in the team. This has seen a lot of youngsters being loaned out to gain experience and it also acts as an additional revenue stream for the club.
