Chelsea Lining Up Bid For Arsenal Star

Loads of reports have been floating around in the last few days about transfer deals between Arsenal and Chelsea involving Petr Cech and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Cech has been in London for the past nine years and does not want to relocate given that his family and friends are all in the English capital. With Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly in genuine pursuit of the Czech international, it is believed that Cech prefers a move to local rivals Arsenal. On the other hand, Mourinho seems determined to sell him abroad.

Taking advantage of Arsenal’s interest in Cech, Chelsea tried to cut a deal by offering to exchange a home-grown player (Chamberlain) for Cech, but Arsenal are said to have turned down the offer. But the Blues’ interest in Chamberlain seems to be deeper as The Sun reported that Chelsea are contemplating a £20m offer for the 21-year-old but are not intending to discuss goalkeeper Petr Cech as part of the deal.

Chamberlain has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons but still made 42 appearances for club and country last season. Nonetheless, the young Englishman managed to impress whenever he played. He might not be a consistent performer, but with the right guidance and mentoring he might well reach a very high level. The England international has endured a number of injuries since joining Arsenal from Southampton back in 2011 but has still proved his worth with good performances in each season. He brings pace and energy into the team and is technically gifted with both feet. He can play on either wing or even as a central attacker. He has flair and can strike up a good passing chemistry with the rest of Chelsea’s midfield. He can also shoot from distance; something that the Chelsea midfield lacks.

The only problem with his acquisition would be first team football given Chelsea possess a large number of good players in the same position. With the likes of Hazard, Willian, Oscar and Cuadrado fighting for a place in the starting eleven, it would very difficult for ‘The Ox’ to get regular game time. This means that his chances of joining the West London outfit are very slim at present.
