The Premier League season is over and the transfer season is already in its full flow. We have already been linked to a plethora of big names including Gareth Bale, Griezmann, Varane etc., which is obvious, given these transfer business makes sense on some level.
Then again, there has been news circulating the internet about Diego Costa’s apparent “unhappiness” with everything about London and how the Spaniard is itching for a move away from the Bridge already. That’s some lazy journalism at it’s best for you!
So, let’s talk some real transfer news that makes slightly more sense, if not an awful lot, than the last one. According to reports published in the Daily Star, Jose Mourinho might be interested in acquiring the services of £20m rated West Ham forward Enner Valencia!
Apparently, they also managed a quote from the aforementioned player before he left on international duty for Equador in the Copa America. Here’s what the forward had to say on these rumors:
“We are going to see what happens after the competition, where I think we’re going to do good things. I’ve heard of the interest from Chelsea, yes, and other teams. But we’re going to wait. If it’s for my good and that of West Ham, then it’s welcome.”
To be honest, I haven’t heard much about Chelsea’s apparent interest in the Ecuadorian. This might just be one of those things where a club of our stature is being dragged into the midst to crank up the player’s value!
There’s no denying that Enner Valencia has had a superb start to his debut Premier League season, but the forward has lacked consistency and pretty much faded away towards the end.
With Didier Drogba freeing up a position in the striker department, it’s quite usual that a new striker, capable of playing a backup role, is been linked to us virtually every day. It’s Enner Valencia who makes the list today. Although, If we are genuinely interested in the services of the young forward, it makes no sense whatsoever. The Ecuadorian will most likely cost around £20m and surely won’t start ahead of Costa or Remy. Splashing that kind of money on a backup, when you already have the likes of Bamford, Traore and Solanke knocking on the first team’s door seems absurd.
Unless Loic Remy wants to give company to Didier Drogba in France, this move doesn’t make much sense as far as Chelsea are concerned!
