Our 24-year-old Superstar Eden Hazard has won the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award. He got 53% of the votes, Harry Kane finished second and our Captain John Terry finished third in the polls.
He is the first Chelsea Player to be named FWA’s Player of the Year since Frank Lampard in 2005. Hazard adds this to the PFA award he won in April. His importance to our team has been highlighted by his appearance in every Premier League and Champions League match this season.
He has scored 19 goals and has assisted on 10 occasions. He draws 4.7 fouls per game in the Champions League and 3 fouls per game in the PL. He has been among the most fouled players for years now. He has been declared as the Man of the Match 11 times in the 43 games he has represented the Blues. His passing is supposedly underrated, as his pass success percentage is 86 % that is a tad better than Fabregas’ 85.6 %, which is remarkable as hazard plays further up the pitch, while also averaging 2.5 Key Passes per game. Mourinho has made Hazard lethal and a better all-round player as he averages 0.7 tackles and 0.7 interceptions per game.
Here is what Hazard had to say on Mourinho:
“He’s normal, funny, says bull**** sometimes – but what he says will stay between us! He’s quiet and he gives an image of someone cold. But he’s very nice. He’s the one who gives me the most freedom, he understands how to get the best from his players. He knows which players need a word and who doesn’t. The pressure is on him, so he lets the players be good on the pitch.”
He creates, he scores, he draws fouls, while he is a constant thorn in the opposition’s defence and has added consistency and work rate to his game this season. He is young, humble and will only get better. Good times ahead!
