Barclays might give us Blues another chance to celebrate our “Double” this season, given the number of nominations in the Barclays Player and Manager of the season awards.
Chelsea dominates the shortlists, as Jose Mourinho tops the list of the nominations for Manager of the season award and John Terry, Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard make it to the nominations for the Player of season award.
Are we going to repeat the History here?? Jose Mourinho was named Barclays Manager of the Season in 2004-05 and Frank Lampard grabbed the Barclays Player of the Season trophy in the same year.
Since then, no Chelsea player has won the Player of the Season award. Mourinho, however, grabbed the Manager of the Season in 2005-06 also. We stand a good chance to end the drought this season.
The winners for the current season will be announced on Friday, May 22, 2015. Fingers crossed!!
This is how the nomination lists look:
MANAGER OF THE SEASON –
Jose Mourinho (Chelsea F.C.)
Ronald Koeman (Southampton F.C.)
Garry Monk (Swansea City A.F.C.)
Nigel Pearson (Leicester City F.C.)
Arsene Wenger (Arsenal F.C.)
PLAYER OF THE SEASON –
John Terry (Chelsea F.C.)
Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea F.C.)
Eden Hazard (Chelsea F.C.)
Nemanja Matic (Chelsea F.C.)
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City F.C.)
David De Gea (Manchester United F.C.)
Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur F.C.)
Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal F.C.)
In addition to this, Eden Hazard is also named in the list of final five players for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Season award, which is decided by the votes from fans. You can vote for Eden here.
Let’s hope that we bring both the Premier League Manager of the Season and Player of the Season award to Stamford Bridge.
