This was a brilliant season with respect to all aspects, we won two trophies our players and manager won a bag full of awards and what not. Also this was the last game for Drogba and may be for Cech in Chelsea colors. Talking about the final game of the season; the blues again gave an ambitious performance as they came over a 1-0 deficit and won the game with a margin of 3 goals to 1. Overall this game was exciting as both teams were striving hard to get goals and at times we also witnesses some exciting end to end football. Here’s the match report of this game.
Chelsea started the game with Cech in between the sticks and the regular back four. Midfield comprised of Mikel and Matic in the center, while Hazard and Cuadrado were on the flanks with Willian in the middle and Drogba upfront.
The first half commenced with a spot-kick earned by Willian in the very first minute. The game was pretty much under Chelsea’s control but Sunderland capitalized a corner in the 25th minute and Steven Fletcher netted a header from a close range on the far end. Then in the 29th minute the man with the arm band, the legend, the king and one of the greatest strikers in the history of Chelsea Football Club was subbed of and replaced by Diego Costa. His final walk towards the dugout was a very emotional moment for him, his teammates and us as the players lifted him up and carried him towards the bench. The next few minutes were followed by some beautiful Chelsea buildups and one of those buildups paid off as Cuadrado was fouled and he earned a precious penalty in the 37th minute. Diego Costa took the penalty and netted the ball in the bottom corner. Later injured Cuadrado was replaced by Remy who played a huge role in the victory
Chelsea started the second half with great confidence and composure. The players were high on confidence and the plays were more ambitious and productive than it was in the first half. Hazard, Remy, Azpilicueta and Willian made many threatening moves in the second half. Later in the 70th minutes Hazard and Remy teamed up to create a beautiful goal, Hazard ran with the ball and passed it to Remy who then took a marvelous shot from outside the 18 yard box and netted a goal. Chelsea were dominating Sunderland as most of the time Chelsea were attacking and pressing while the black cats were in the deep line. Later in the 78th minute Andreas Christensen replaced Mikel. Remy killed the game in the 88th minute as he scored another goal which was assisted by Matic via a cross. As the game ended and another legend, Petr Cech received a huge round of applause by the fans and players and waved his final goodbye to Stamford Bridge.
This was another brilliant performance by the champions and performances like these show why Chelsea are the dominating champions. The season was amazing, the team was a class apart which was all possible because of top notch managing by Jose Mourinho. If this level of performance continues this team will surely go places and many big things can be expected in the future, maybe a treble. KTBFFH!
