20-Year-old Winger Latest To Join The Blues Summer Shopping List

The transfer madness has already started and although we are yet to see any big name signing at Chelsea, we have already secured the services of the 19-year-old Nathan Allen De Souza to add to our loan army.

Anwar El Ghazi

Yesterday, we talked about how Chelsea are reportedly in for Fluminense forward Robert Kenedy, and today, Anwar El Ghazi is the latest name to have joined our list.

According to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, the 20-year-old Ajax Midfielder is the latest name who has been making the rounds across the top European clubs.

De Telegraaf goes on to say that Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid have already joined the hunt for the talented winger and Chelsea will have to battle it out with the following clubs if they want to secure his services.

For the fans, who are unaware of this latest rumored player; Anwar El Ghazi is of Moroccan descent but currently hold a dual citizenship. He has already represented Netherlands U17, U-18, and U-21 side and is being touted as the superstar for future.

Playing for Ajax, he has racked up 9 goals and 7 assists in the 23 appearances this season. His goals tally are pretty good for a 20-year-old but notching up 7 assists is the most impressive aspect of his game that has probably drawn interest for the top clubs from Europe.

Yes, Anwar El Ghazi is still an unknown commodity as he is relatively young and inexperienced. Eredivisie is far from a top league which means there still questions surrounding the quality of the youngster. But Chelsea have shown in the past that they are ready to gamble on players with the similar profile.

Getting them cheap and sending them on loan till they become good enough to challenge for the first team or at the very least, generate a considerable profit, is the new trend at the Bridge.

With that in mind, Anwar seems to be the perfect buy for the Blues as he wouldn’t command high fees and would probably join our loan army abroad, as getting a work permit for him in England would be next to impossible.

Although, having Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich in the race might elevate his price tag. In that case, it remains to be seen how we go about this business!
