In what seems to be a dramatic turn of events, FC Barcelona, who were firm favorites to land Atletico Madrid’s Koke, now seem to have pulled out from the race. Although the transfer embargo on Barca remains until January 2016, it was very much possible that Koke will be ready to wait for some more time to complete a move to the Catalans and be an able successor to the likes of Xavi and Iniesta.
The Metro reports that Jose Mourinho seems to have taken a liking for this creative midfielder. Koke has had more assists (9) than any other Atletico player this season; only behind the likes of Messi and Ronaldo. Atletico does not want him to leave, but it is said that a £45 million offer will be enough to prise him away from his current employers. The question is where will he fit in?
It seems that Oscar’s career at the Bridge might be coming to an end. Fabregas and Matic have been the driving force for Chelsea this season, along with the omnipresent Eden Hazard. Oscar, though, hasn’t performed according to the standards expected by boss Abramovich. Good doesn’t cut it at Chelsea, only the best does; that has been Jose’s mantra since his return to The Blues. Be it Schurrle or De Bruyne or David Luiz, the Chelsea management haven’t hesitated in selling players out to bring fresher and brighter prospects to the club.
Koke is not only a creative genius but also a hard-working lad who will certainly run some extra yards in comparison to Cesc & Oscar. Also, he is adept at using his short yet solid built. Will Koke be the man to propel Mourinho’s thirst for more silverware next season or will he stay loyal to Atletico will only be known once the season ends.
