So this is it, the big match Chelsea vs Manchester United, the Blues vs the Reds.
A match that catches the eye of people all around globe. For Chelsea, this is the most intriguing fixture as this could make or break the entire season, which is dominated by Chelsea. Chelsea needs 12 points out of the available 21 points and they would want to win this fixture and seal the second silverware for the season.
So, let’s check the squad that could play against United as Chelsea welcomes them at Stamford Bridge.
GK: Thibaut Courtois
Undoubtedly man of the match last time around against QPR. The Belgian stopper has been consistent the entire season and he will very likely be placed above Petr Cech.
CB: John Terry and Gary Cahill
This is the duo which needs to click tomorrow and needs to fire and keep Wayne Rooney mum to clinch this testing tie. The English duo has been tidy at the back and not allowed attackers to go past them easily. So, Mourinho will put them in the starting lineup against United.
LB: Cesar Azpilicueta
The Spaniard has established himself in the good books of Jose and proved his worthiness amongst the critics. A strong RB against Juan Mata (sigh!) would be crucial enough as we know what a threat Mata could really be.
RB: Branislav Ivanovic
No points for guessing, the Serb will surely be the of the starting squad and he will garner the right back performances with some strong duels against the likes of Di Maria, Young and Herrera as this tussle would get and give cheers and jeers to the crowd.
CM: Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas
This is where the entire fixture boils down. It would be really interesting to see a strong Matic vs Fellaini duel or maybe a Fabregas vs Carrick brawl. Matic needs to play a key part tomorrow and keep Fellaini calm because he has been a major threat for his opposition. Fabregas on the other hand is in good form as he scored the only and late goal against QPR. He needs to keep his head high and carry on with good performances again.
LW: Eden Hazard
Do we really need to mention the left-wing position? It’s so very obvious that the Belgian beast would be the man on the left and will be taking on Antonio Valencia tomorrow. The big man needs to deliver the goods and will be the player whom you would want to put your money on.
A no-brainer, Willian will be starting above Cuadrado in this tight match. Willian has proved as a match winner and is very much deserving than available options in the likes of Juan Cuadrado.
The Brazilian came in as substitute last match and was rather quiet for the 30 minutes he played. The midfielder has been linked a move away from Chelsea and Juventus seems to be the desirable destination. A good performance and Oscar would prove his worth to the haters.
ST: Loic Remy
According to Squawka and Independent, Remy would start against United after missing the last match against QPR due to muscular injury. Remy has been the silent contributor and has been doing justice to the bare minimum role he has got. He currently holds the best goals per match ratio in the Premier League and we expect this ratio to get better by tomorrow’s match.
