Chelsea came one step closer to their 4th Premier League title after the stalemate against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.
The Blues now face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night. Leicester are fighting for relegation, being in 17th place in the standings, just 5 points above bottom-placed Burnley.
Here we present Chelsea’s strongest possible lineup that can be deployed against Leicester:
Goalkeeper – Petr Cech
For Chelsea, it doesn’t really matter which keeper starts as both Courtois and Cech are in great form. Over the past few weeks, Thibaut has been a regular keeper in the Premier League and as this is a mid-week fixture, chances of Petr Cech starting between the sticks are high.
Defense – Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill, John Terry & Cesar Azpilicueta
This back four was rock solid against Arsenal and the odds of them to start are very high. Ivanovic has been very impressive since the start of the season and he hasn’t been benched for rests. John Terry cannot be replaced because of his extravagant form thus cannot be benched while Gary Cahill has also been impressive since last 4-5 games and won’t be benched. Cesar Azpilicueta too was one of the best players against the Gunners and he has played a very key role in this entire campaign hence is expected to start.
Midfield – Nemanja Matic, Ramires, Cesc Fabregas, Willian & Eden Hazard
The midfield will also be the same as the Arsenal game. Oscar who caught a knock against Arsenal will not be risked to play by Jose Mourinho while others are regular starters. Matic and Ramires will be in the central midfield with Matic as a defensive midfielder and Ramires will play an attacking role. Fabregas will be the number ten and Hazard will be on the left while Willian on the right. This will be a very good midfield and it will be strong enough to break Leicester’s defense.
Attack – Diego Costa
With Loic Remy not fit enough to play and Didier Drogba not impressive in recent weeks, chances of Diego Costa to start are high. Costa was injured recently but he was given a green signal by Chelsea’s medical staff and he also trained with the squad yesterday.
